About
Exceptional Care
Welcome!
We are so excited you are here! We specialize in helping people who stutter. Our mission is to provide a valuable experience to each and every client, by offering an individualized therapy program, that is tailored to each person’s unique needs and characteristics.
Early intervention is vital. There is growing consensus that early treatment may prevent developmental stuttering from becoming a lifelong and chronic problem. We work with preschool children by helping parents recognize and modify potential challenges that may cause an overload of stress upon their child’s speech and language system. We also work directly with preschool children to help them learn how to speak more fluently.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of misinformation when it comes to stuttering. Many people are looking for a magic pill or tips and tricks that will help them become more fluent. However, there is no magic pill, and tricks tend to have an immediate yet unreliable and temporary effect. Our approach takes the wellbeing of the whole person into account - more than just fluency tools.
We work with school-aged children, teens and adults on reducing individual avoidance behaviors and developing the courage to engage fully in life by instilling personal confidence in oneself and in one’s communication abilities.
Here at Steinmetz Speech you will learn speech tools and explore ways to stutter more easily and speak more freely. We don’t just teach them; we actually use those speech tools. We practice them in the clinic and also take them outside into “the real world” by making phone calls and going to stores etc. while using the techniques. Come join us for a highly motivating and encouraging experience.
Our primary objectives are:
a) Reduce the impact of stuttering on the child and parents.
b) Enhance the child’s fluency.
c) Increase the parents’ and the child’s
knowledge about stuttering and confidence to
manage it.

Care Philosophy:
Hi! I'm Avrohom Steinmetz M.S., CCC-SLP, Director of Steinmetz Speech & Voice - a pediatric and adult speech pathology clinic. We offer initial screenings, comprehensive evaluations, therapy sessions and family counseling and support. We believe that the best and fastest results occur with a team approach, so we collaborate with a child's, schoolteachers or counselors, pediatricians, and paraprofessionals to develop a unified plan. We encourage all parents to join us for as many sessions as they can and try to incorporate a family approach. We believe in empowering our clients to become his or her best self.
Insurance:
We are an out-of-network practice. We do not bill insurance directly but are happy to provide you with out-of-network insurance statements (superbill) to get reimbursed if you have out-of-network coverage. Because we are licensed therapists, our professional services do qualify for patient reimbursement under many insurance plans that offer out-of-network coverage. We advise that you check with your insurance company to determine whether you are eligible for reimbursement.
